This weekend discover the backwaters of London at the Angel Canal Festival on Sunday. Get yourself down to the City Road Lock on Regent’s Canal for a lively day of entertainment, suitable for the whole family. There’s the opportunity to go messing around in boats, listen to live music or even watch some innovative street theatre. Get your adrenaline pumping with the regatta and boat races or take some time out in the Floating Cinema – a unique venue for film buffs to recline in. There will be over 80 stalls along the towpath, selling everything from crafts and jewellery to food and drink.
If you want to catch the mayor of Islington arriving by boat to open the festival make sure you get there before 1pm. It’s sure to be a great day out and the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of London.
If this doesn’t float your boat, but you still fancy a leisurely afternoon by the canal, why not rent one of our bikes and take inspiration from our well loved Grand Waterways tour. There’ are plenty of rest stops along the towpath and its always a pleasure to people watch and envy the lives of the canal-boat community. Cling on to the last days of summer, you know you want to!
