So yarn fun!

We are thrilled to be involved in a cockle-warming event today that even the coldest of October days couldn’t send a chill through. The Campaign for Wool is running a bicycle ride like no other today to start Wool week off with a blast. The Wool Ride, involving over 300 wool-loving cyclists from across the country, will be starting at Potters Field in London, at 9am sharp today (5th October).

Find inspiration at London Literature Festival this October

As the Indian summer draws to a close and the nights start to shorten, Southbank Centre has a tasty antidote to the oncoming Autumnal days. Their annual Literature Festival kicked off yesterday and runs until the 13 October with food for through from some of the world’s best writers and performers. Quick tongued wordsmith Kate Tempest performs some new and thought provoking poetry (10 Oct) and the legend that is Stephen Fry shares excerpts from his latest memoir More Fool Me, chronicling his escapades in the 80s and 90s – sure to be a bestseller once its released.

Get canalside this weekend

This weekend discover the backwaters of London at the Angel Canal Festival on Sunday. Get yourself down to the City Road Lock on Regent’s Canal for a lively day of entertainment, suitable for the whole family. There’s the opportunity to go messing around in boats, listen to live music or even watch some innovative street theatre. Get your adrenaline pumping with the regatta and boat races or take some time out in the Floating Cinema – a unique venue for film buffs to recline in.

Notting Hill Carnival this weekend

The event to attend this week is most certainly Notting Hill Carnival on Sunday and bank holiday monday. Since it’s humble beginnings in 1964, when 500 people attended, it now boasts crowds of over 2 million every year, making it second only to Rio Carnival in terms of size. And don’t worry, it provides the party atmosphere to match.

Lambeth Country Show

Despite the confusingly juxtaposing title, the very uncountryside-ish London Borough of Lambeth pulls off its annual country show with great aplomb. And they have been doing so for forty years now!

10 reasons why London's great in the summer

1. Everyone’s in a good mood and the city sparkles.

Every city looks better bathed in sunlight and London is no exception. Joyful people line every street, riverside and canal drinking in the summer rays and/or alcoholic beverages. The Thames has a twinkle in its eye and the people a skip in their step. Even the bus drivers crack a smile once in a while! I always rediscover my love for this magical city when the summer starts to sizzle.

2. Outdoor cinema
